An air conditioning system is a sealed unit. If it’s low on refrigerant, there’s a leak somewhere. We find the leak before recharging; otherwise, the same problem will return in a few weeks.

Lukewarm air, noise when the compressor starts, musty odors, or persistent fogging: three different causes, all different solutions.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Most often, it is because the refrigerant level has dropped due to a leak, but a compressor clutch, condenser fan, or sensor can cause the same symptom. A pressure test will tell the difference.
Technically yes, but the refrigerant will leak out again, and releasing it into the atmosphere is prohibited. Recharging without repairing means paying twice for the same problem.
Running it for a few minutes a month keeps the compressor lubricated and the seals airtight. In winter, it also helps defog the windshield faster.
It comes from moisture trapped on the evaporator or a clogged drain, often combined with a saturated cabin air filter. A deodorizer masks the smell; cleaning the evaporator and clearing the drain makes it disappear.
To remove air and moisture from the system. Moisture left inside freezes at the expansion valve and forms an acid with the compressor oil. Without a vacuum, the recharge damages the very system it was meant to fix.
